The predator inflicted several wounds to the man in the chest, his left wrist and his left hip
MOSCOW, July 30. /TASS/. A bear attacked a man some 11 km from a village in the Magadan Region, in Russia’s Far East, the local police press service said on Monday.
The incident occurred on Sunday near the village of Orotukan, where the man lives. "The predator inflicted several wounds to the man in the chest, his left wrist and his left hip," the police said.
The man, born in 1979, was rushed to the emergency care hospital in Orotukan.
The cases when bears approach villages have become more frequent in Russia’s Far Eastern Yakutia (Sakha), the Khabarovsk Region and Kamchatka. Experts explain this by the lack of professional hunters and bear migration from the neighboring regions due to fires. This year, Yakutia’s authorities issued the permission to shoot 81 bears to regulate their number.
